KB5050009 for Windows 11 January Patch Tuesday

KB5050009 for Windows 11 is the January 2025 update for Windows 11 24H2, and it’s no surprise that it doesn’t have anything great to offer. That’s because Microsoft didn’t release optional updates in December 2024 due to the holidays. For now, Microsoft has released the .msu for KB5050009.patch tuesday

KB5050009 is a mandatory update (Patch Tuesday January 2025) and will be downloaded or installed automatically. This won't happen immediately, but when Windows checks for updates in the background, it will notify you and attempt to restart automatically.

If you install today's update, you'll notice that there's a new Personalized experience called "Personalized offers" when setting up Windows 11. This option appears on the initial Windows setup screen (OOBE) and is tied to the ads you see throughout the operating system. Selecting this will result in more ads, so don't do it.

If you've already selected it, you can reset it from Settings > Privacy & security.
