Last week, Microsoft released updates via Patch Tuesday for February 2025 for Windows 10 (KB5051974 / KB5052000 / KB5052006 / KB5052040) and Windows 11 (KB5051987, KB5051989). At the same time, the company also released dynamic updates for all supported versions of Windows 11, namely 24H2, 23H2 and 22H2, as well as for Windows Server 2025.
Dynamic updates bring improvements to Windows recovery in the form of updates to the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE), called Safe OS updates. Dynamic updates for Windows 11 24H2 also apply to Windows Server 2025.
For those who may not know, these dynamic update packages are intended to be applied to existing Windows images before they are installed. In a post on Tech Community for dynamic updates of Windows 10, Microsoft explains their uses in more detail. These packages include fixes to the Setup.exe binaries, SafeOS updates for the Windows Recovery Environment, and more.
Setup updates are available for download from the Windows Update Catalog.
As for the WinRE updates, you can find them at the links below.
George is still wondering what he is doing here….
