The optional June 2025 update KB5060826, for all Windows 11 23H2 and 22H2 users, is here.
It includes some new features along with a long-awaited fix for the Start menu search feature. It was terribly slow and took a long time to load. Now it has been updated and you can enjoy a fast search experience.
KB5060826 as we mentioned above is an optional update, so Windows will not download it to install on your computer like it does with monthly security updates. You should check the Updates page in the Settings app to download and install the latest one on your computer. If you encounter an error with this approach, you can use the installation file provided below.
Optional updates bring new feature updates along with bug fixes, and this one has something special for Windows Backup users. Until now, you could only upload your files and settings to the cloud using your Microsoft account. After that, you had to use the Restore option when setting up a new PC if you wanted the same settings and files on your new PC, or on the new installation.
Microsoft is making this experience easier by adding PC-to-PC file transfer to Windows Backup. This feature was available to Insiders but is now available to everyone. The technology is not new and is similar to Windows 7's Easy File Transfer feature. It uses a shared wireless connection to send files and settings to the new PC after a pairing process.
