Kicksecure is a security-enhanced Linux distribution based on the Debian “Stable” branch, with Xfce as the default desktop user interface.
It is a hardened operating system, designed to be resistant to viruses, malware and attacks, and has been extensively redesigned according to an advanced multi-layered defense model, thus providing security in depth.
Kicksecure provides protection against many types of malware in its default configuration without requiring any special customization.
The sandbox-app-launcher used by Kicksecure is an application launcher that can launch any application within its own restrictive sandbox. Each application runs with its own user, in a bubblewrap sandbox, and is restricted by AppArmor.
The security and privacy of the default software management (software installation and upgrade) is much better, making it harder for anyone to send you targeted, malicious software updates.
This only applies to system updates via Tor, not all internet traffic.
