What does LG have to do with mosquitoes? Last year in the capital of India, New Delhi, almost 16.000 cases of dengue infections were recorded, the highest in recent years. The culprit: mosquitoes, which thrive and multiply in garbage and storming areas common to developing countries.
LG believes it can help its customers fight the airborne threat with a new line of new LCD TVs with mosquito repellent technology.
The company explained in a statement:
“LG Mosquito Away TV, developed with Indian consumers in mind, is equipped with a device Ultra Sonic that when activated, uses sound wave technology to repel mosquitoes, without emitting harmful radiation.”
Insect repellent technology does not include the use of chemicals. LG also reports that the TV you don't even need to run it system Mosquito Away to work. The new TV range is designed and manufactured in India.
The technology itself is not new. LG introduced it into a range of 2014 air conditioners.
LG anti-mosquito nets start from 400 dollars for the 80cm model and reach up to 700 dollars for the 108cm version.
