LibreOffice 6.1: Document Foundation announced the 6.1 edition of the LibreOffice suite 6.0. This is the second major update of the LibreOffice 6 series introduced at the beginning of 2018 for all supported platforms.
LibreOffice 6.1 has been developing for the past six months and comes with new features such as enhanced image management functionality that is significantly faster and smoother, especially when you open documents created in Microsoft Office.
LibreOffice 6.1 also has a new Page menu and organizes the Draw menu again for better coherence in the different sections. The new version comes with an improved EPUB Extraction Filter with additional metadata customization options and better support for links, images, tables, footnotes and embedded fonts.

Another important improvement is that the Firebird database engine is now enabled by default, replacing the old HSQLDB database engine. Developers recommend all stakeholders to convert their files from HSQLDB to Firebird using the conversion assistant or exporting them to an external HSQLDB server.
The new release comes from the official channels for all supported platforms along with the sixth maintenance update for the LibreOffice 5.4.7 series.
The new LibreOffice 6.1 is the new version of the open-source and cross-platform office suite used in many functional Linux and not only.
