Lightyear One 710 km range with one charge

The Lightyear One is a Dutch electric vehicle that in June broke the record for the longest distance traveled by an EV with a single battery charge.

At a speed of 85km / h, the car traveled for almost nine hours, covering a distance of 710 km!
The validation test was performed at its Aldenhoven Testing Center s.

According to the company of the same name, Lightyear"This is the longest distance an electric vehicle with a 60kWh battery has ever achieved." The Tesla Model 3 Long Range of 2021 has an average range of 455km but a 70kWh battery.

Lightyear also claims that even the most efficient electric on the market today consume about 50% more energy at relatively low speeds”. Its aim was therefore to reduce energy consumption per kilometer in order to provide a long range with a small battery.

Lightyear One is currently being tested for two years and has four independent electric motors. It consumes 83Wh/km and can accelerate from 0 to 62mph in less than 10 .

The car is available as standard with over-the-air software updates, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

It has five solar panels, which add a distance of 12 kilometers per hour of charging. This could be ideal in sunny countries, as the vehicle could travel for months without being charged.

Solar panels are embedded in glass on the roof of the car.

The Lightyear One will be released in the first half of 2022 and will cost around $ 177.000.
