MX Linux 18 Continuum: MX Linux is a Linux distribution that we prefer at iGuRu.gr. It is based on the fixed Debian and came from a collaboration between the defunct antiX and MEPIS Linux communities.
It uses Xfce as the default desktop work, and is an operating system that combines an elegant and efficient desktop with simple settings, high stability, stable performance and a minimal footprint.
In short, it's a fairly light distribution that does not sacrifice quality.
Η team of MX Linux today announced the release of stable version 18. The new version is based on Debian 9.6 “Stretch” and includes all major system updates as well as new versions of desktop applications.
"We are pleased to offer the MX-18 Continuum. The MX-18 offers the following features:
Updated packages with the latest updates from the Debian 9.6 Stretch, antiX and MX repositories: GIMP 2.10 (with plugins). New Linux 4.19.5 kernel (with patch blk-mq). New firmware. New Meltdown and Specter mitigation, even in the 32 bit kernel.
Very easy to change kernels with MX Package Installer (you can very easily change to 'liquorix' kernel or downgrade to Debian 'stable' kernel 4.9).
Some Xfce items have been updated (such as Xfce Settings, and Thunar). New and up-to-date mx-apps: selectable topics for the GRUB and Plymouth boot-splash boot menu installed through the mx-boot options.
System-keyboard and locale options for easy access to the default keyboard and for better location management.
Updates to the MX Package Installer, for better performance…. ”
