Linux: Increase in worldwide market share

Increase in Linux adoption! Despite the promotion of Microsoft's Windows 10, the operating system is reported to be the largest in market share percentage from last month, while rival Linux operating system managed to record the most significant increase in market share in the last 12 months.linux

The NetMarketShare reveals that in August of 2017 the market share of Windows market fell to 90,70%, from 91,45% that was the previous month. The fall of 0,75 percent is one of the largest recorded since April of 2016 when their market share collapsed from 90,45% to 88,77% (-1,68%).

This performance is especially important when you think that it is at the time when Microsoft completes the release of Windows 10 Creators Update while concluding the development of its next version of its operating system scheduled to be released on 17 October 2017.

On the other hand, Linux, which is considered Windows competitor, experienced the biggest growth in market share in the last 12 months in August. Linux has improved its share of 2,53% to 3,37% last month.

Linux seems to be the preferred one for users leaving Windows, while on the other hand the use of Apple's macOS also decreased in August which passed us from 6,02% to 5,94%.

The growth experienced by Linux is impressive, as in just four months, the code managed to go from 2% to 3,37%. Let's mention that in May of this year, Linux was running on 1,99 percent of desktop systems worldwide.

The good news for Microsoft is that Windows has not fallen below 90%, so they are still feeding 9 to 10 computers worldwide.
