It will be supported until 2021 and comes in four flavors (Cinnamon, KDE, MATE and Xfce).
Linux Mint 18.2 comes with improvements to X-Apps cross-desktop applications with improved shortcuts in the Xplayer video player and line sorting in the Xed text editor.

The update administrator has been modified to help users find the ideal balance between security updates and system stability:
“Update Manager received many improvements. It still has the same mission and manages the same functions, but presents things slightly differently. Policies and level definitions have been improved to filter updates according to their level of impact on your operating system system.
More information and images can be found in the official announcements projects (Cinnamon, KDE, MATE, Xfce) and the release notes (Cinnamon, KDE, MATE, Xfce).
Caution:
Those of you who want to upgrade from the previous version will have to wait a bit longer, as developer Clement Lefebvre has revealed that the upgrade path from Linux Mint 18.1 “Sarah” to Linux Mint 18.2 “Sonya” is not yet open.
The programmer said the update would be possible shortly after the official launch of the operating system and that it would publish a separate announcement on the project's website.
