The Linux Mint Community reports that the final ISOs for Linux Mint 21.2 undergo testing. There are three versions in the works, Cinnamon, MATE and Xfce.
The testing of the final ISOs comes about two weeks after the beta was released to the public. On July 1, the head of the Linux Mint project wrote that the team had already collected 60 bug reports and many problems were fixed thanks to user feedback.
One of the biggest changes that Linux Mint 21.2 will bring is the introduction of styling to the Cinnamon edition. It will allow you to combine different accent colors and choose dark, light or mixed themes – you can even use the Yaru colors from Ubuntu in this version.
Users who downloaded the beta will be able to continue updating their system and will be considered to be on the final version. Linux Mint 21.1 users will be able to upgrade fairly easily via the menu in the update manager.
Linux Mint 21, 21.1 and 21.2 are all based on Ubuntu LTS 22.04 and so they will receive updates until 2027. The benefit of upgrading is that you get the improvements that the Linux Mint team has been working on, such as the new Cinnamon build style.
We don't know how long it will take for the ISOs to be officially released, but usually, it only takes a few days.
After the tests are passed, we will then have to wait for the team to write the posts for the new releases, but if you want to get your hands on the new OS, you can find it in the official mirrors before the announcement.
