A teenage member of the Lizard Squad managed to avoid prison, even after admitting to a Finnish court that he hacked 50.700 computers. The young man also pleaded guilty to other criminal acts in cyberspace.
Julius “zeekill” Kivimaki, 17, was given a two-year suspended sentence and released on condition that his every activity be monitored in Internet, according to Finnish newspaper Kaleva.
17-year-old Kivimaki played a key role in these crimes, and if nothing else, acting as a representative of the Lizard Squad he gave interviews describing their attacks on Sky News.
The group was able to carry out very powerful DDoS attacks using thousands hacked home routers.
Finnish authorities arrested Kivimaki in late 2014 and charged him with data breaches, scams payments and harassment.
