Lotus Evija the fastest electric supercar

British car manufacturer Lotus introduced the first developed by the Chinese car manufacturer Geely.

It was named Evija - from "E-vi-ya" - and its specifications make it one of the fastest cars in the world when it starts production in 2020. Its price, if you are interested, will start at 1,5 million pounds.

Price is not the only number that will make you shudder. The super-car will have 1,972-horsepower thanks to the four electric motors it will have, one for each wheel.

It will have a top speed of 200 miles (or more) per hour and can go from 0 to 60 miles in less than 3 seconds.

Lotus is aiming for 250 miles on a single charge, and the company says the car will be able to charge 80% from zero in 12 minutes with 350kW chargers.

Full charge will only take 18 minutes. And if charging with an 800kW charger, Lotus says it will only take nine minutes.

The fact that the car weighs 1.680 kg also contributes to the speed, just like the Pininfarina Battista, which was unveiled earlier this year.

Lotus says it will be the "lightest EV production car", and that the Evija will also be the "most powerful electric production vehicle" when it goes into production.

According to the company, the Evija will undoubtedly be a very fast car. What sets it apart, however, is its impressive design.

The Evija features the modern look of a supercar, such as that used by companies such as McLaren and the . Διαθέτει  ένα κομ of the second generation Tesla Roadster vibe, and with good reason, since the original Tesla Roadster was based on a Lotus Elise.

The result is something like a McLaren and a futuristic race car. This extends inside, which has a racing-type steering wheel mounted on a rigid dashboard. The center console catches the eye. Simply put, it is a slab of black material with honeycomb recesses.

Its interior is not for all tastes, but of course, not even the car itself.

The Evija contains many small surprises, and everything one would expect to find in an extremely rare car like this.

Doors that open outwards and upwards have no handles and can only be opened with the help of a key or a button on the roof.

The seats and steering wheel are upholstered in Alcantara. Headlights use lasers to illuminate the street. Mirrors have been replaced by cameras. Evija can be further customized, at the corresponding cost.

Lotus

Evija is connected to the cloud and can be updated over the air. Lotus is developing a companion app, but the car also supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Even millionaires need it in real time to their contacts and automotive approved applications.

Lotus

Geely bought the largest share of Lotus shares in 2017 and over the past decade the Chinese group has gained a reputation for reviving old brand names, as has happened with the Swedish carmaker Volvo or Polestar.

Lotus

Evija is a sign that, despite recent difficulties in the Chinese car market, Geely is willing to give a lot to the brands it has taken under its protection.
