Reducing the injuries of American Airlines pilots by using iPads

ua-flightdeck4_1

This is quite interesting that we read. But it did not surprise us. According to a report by the Tab Times, American Airlines has replaced 8.600 bags full of instruction charts and maps with iPads. That would say a lot of iPads. But what does this have to do with the injuries mentioned in the title of the article?

According to Patrick O'Keeffe, Vice President of Operations Technology at American Airlines, each of the bags weighed weighed 18 pounds. The addition of iPads reduced transport injuries. So we report correctly to prevent injuries to pilots since it is not necessary to transport the specific bags.
