Mageia 7 with Linux 5.1 Kernel, Plasma 5.15 & GNOME 3.32

The Mageia distribution community today released the Mageia 7 Linux operating system, a major release that brings updates and many new features to friends of a distribution from the Mandriva project.

Almost years after the start of development, the Mageia 7 Linux operating system is available for download today and brings many of the latest GNU/Linux and open source software technologies. The new Mageia "wears" from one of the last kernels of the Linux 5.1 series and has the latest stack Mesa 19.1.

The new version of Mageia 7 also has new updated desktop environments and window managers, but is available in three main desktop versions KDE Plasma 5.15.4, GNOME 3.32 and Xfce 4.14pre.

It supports Wayland and hybrid graphics cards and offers an extensive collection of games.

"As with the Mageia distribution, this version would not have happened without the help of our amazing community that gives us time to do what we do," says Donald Stewart. "

So a huge thank you to everyone who helped with the packaging, development, and creating QAs on all packages and ISOs, as well as the translators, documentation team, sysadmins, artists, and everyone who helped with the release.

The new Mageia distribution now has a revamped welcome screen that is much easier to use for novice users. It includes some of the latest and greatest applications, such as Mozilla Firefox 67 and Chromium 73, the 6.2.3 but also the package manager rpm 4.14.2.

It supports them better ARM, specifically for the AArch64 (ARM64) and ARMv7 architectures, which now have all the core packages. DNF, Mageia's default package management system, now offers compressed Zchunk metadata support to help you save bandwidth when downloading updates.

You can download the new Mageia distribution directly for 32 bit and 64 bit architectures. The operating system is distributed as live ISO with KDE Plasma, GNOME and Xfce graphical environments, as well as the classic installation images for 32-bit and 64-bit computers.
