Malwarebytes maker of the popular Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, Anti-Exploit, Anti-Ransomware and other tools for better safety, announced that it has acquired AdwCleaner, an application for Windows which is designed to clean systems of adware.
As an adware we define any unwanted software, setting or file that is not considered malicious.
Thus, all these potentially unwanted programs (PUPs) that are usually found when installing other "free" software have adware, which for example, makes changes to your browser's home page by adding another machine search or additional services in Windows, pop-up ads, or cookies that track users.
Malwarebytes plans to improve the company's applications by adding detection for potentially unwanted programs. Thus he judged that the acquisition of an additional tool would greatly aid in her goal.
Please note that AdwCleaner will remain available as a free stand-alone program. This means that users who are already using the app will still be able to use it as they were.
Malwarebytes plans to integrate AdwCleaner technology into its Anti-Malware products.
According to the company, AdwCleaner downloads more than 200.000 times every day, and has been installed a total of "about" 200 million times.
