Mariposa Rescue Disk is a live Linux image based on the Debian “Stable” branch. By default, it starts in a command line interface, but a full graphical desktop with Xfce is also available.
The image contains a large number of troubleshooting, system rescue, and data backup tools. The project also provides documentation and video tutorials for common rescue tasks.
Mariposa Rescue Disk comes with many applications such as Gparted, parted, testdisk, ext4magic, extundelete, foremost, fsarchiver, gddrescue, Magicrescue, autopsy, bruteforce-luks, chkrootkit, ddrescueview, ddrutility, dmraid, myrescue, safecopy, sleuthkit and many others.
The system will start a console and log in as the user. The default keyboard is US English, which you can easily change. By typing “startx” you can enter the XFCE4 Window Manager.
We recommend starting Mariposa Rescue Disk using Ventoy which is supported by version 2.x. However, any other method will work as well.
