MediaCoder is a specialized, free (freemium) audio and video file conversion and compression software (media transcoder) for Windows. It has been actively developed since 2005 and acts as a "Swiss army knife" for multimedia, as it brings together dozens of different codecs and tools in a single application. 
Main Functions
- Format Conversion (Transcoding): Converts files between the most popular video and audio formats (e.g. MP4, MKV, AVI, MP3, AAC, FLAC, H.264, H.265).
- File compression: Reduces the size of large video files (e.g. from screen recordings or cameras) without dramatic loss of quality, to save space.
- Audio Extraction (Ripping): Extracts audio tracks from video files, as well as from BD, DVD, VCD and CD discs.

Who is it for?
MediaCoder is known for its high performance and quality, but it has a rather difficult and cluttered interface (UI). It is not recommended for complete beginners who want a simple one-click conversion. On the contrary, it is ideal for advanced users, content creators and professionals who want to tweak every detail of the video.
