MegaCortex ransomware victims can recover their encrypted files as the Bitdefender released a dedicated decryptor for files encrypted with the ransomware in question.
With this free tool, its victims malicioussoftware can decrypt encrypted data from all versions of MegaCortex. The decryptor was developed by Bitdefender, Europol, the NoMoreRansom project, the prosecutor's office and the Zurich police.
Bitdefender's free Universal Decryptor is available for Windows, and you can download it from here.

Doing click in the Backup option, the encrypted files will be backed up so that you don't lose them in case something goes wrong. After creating the backups you can try to decrypt them.
The tool works “quietly” on background and can then be controlled via the command line to make the files available again.
