Meta uses its GPT-4 OpenAI along with her own Llama AI model in Metamate, an internal tool for coding help, he said the Fortune on Tuesday. 
The dual model approach has been implemented since early 2024, despite the CEO's public promotion of Llama Mark Zuckerberg citing it as a leading AI model.
Metamate was formerly known as Code Compose, and serves Meta developers and employees with coding support.
The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI), Zuckerberg's philanthropy, is separately developing an AI training tool using OpenAI's technology, and OpenAI's CEO Sam altman reportedly sits on the CZI's AI Board in an advisory capacity.
