Meta accidentally deletes too much content from its applications, according to a top company executive.
Nick Clegg, Meta's president of global affairs, told reporters on Monday that the company's error rates were still too high and pledged to "improve the precision with which we act on our regulations".
"We know that in enforcing our policies, our error rates are still very high, which prevents the free expression we want," Clegg said. during a press conference. "Too often, harmless content is removed or restricted and too many people are unfairly punished."
It also said the company regrets its aggressive removal of posts related to the pandemic Covid-19. The managing director Mark Zuckerberg ανέφερε πρόσφατα στην Επιτροπή Δικαιοσύνης της Βουλής των Ρεπουμπλικανών ότι η απόφαση επηρεάστηκε από την pressure of the Biden administration.
"We had very strict regulations that removed very large volumes of content in the midst of the pandemic," Clegg said.
Clegg's comments suggest that, after the increase in annual spending (in the billions of dollars), Meta's automated systems have become overly rigid. Examples of "supervision failures" have recently been very popular. The company issued a public apology after its systems also blocked photos of the president-elect Donald Trump.
