Microsoft claims that Windows 10 has been installed at 1 billion Appliances. The statement came on the heels of an announcement by the company last March that Windows 10 featured 800 million active users.
The new number comes just days after Apple announced that its software runs on 1,5 billion devices worldwide.
Microsoft has long reported that there are 1.5 billion Windows PCs, so the new milestone announced today is supposed to show that Windows adoption is improving, and is supposed to have surpassed the 1,5 billion device milestone.
But the new number published on an Italian website by Microsoft may not be accurate as the announcement page he is currently retired. It should be mentioned that normally there should be some official announcement, as the 1 billion devices is a goal that the company has been pursuing since 2015.
However, Windows 10 adoption has probably improved over the past two years due to the end supports of Windows 7. The operating system of 2009 reached the end of support on January 14 and so a significant number of users upgraded to Windows 10. Of course the upgrades are expected to continue in the coming months.
Microsoft of course continues to pressure users and businesses to upgrade Windows 7 to Windows 10, warning of significant risks better safetys if they continue to run the expired OS.
