It's 2025 and Microsoft is starting the year by reminding everyone that support for Windows 10 ends in October. The company that's trying to entice users των Windows 10 να κάνουν upgrade στα Windows 11 με προτροπές πλήρους screen throughout duration of 2024, now calls 2025 "the year of the Windows 11 PC refresh."
Last year, Microsoft kicked off 2024 by declaring it to be "the year of the AI PC," before releasing a series of Copilot PCs several months later. As Windows 10 nears its end, Microsoft is making its presence felt at CES this week by stating that refreshing a Windows 10 PC will be more important than buying a new one. television or a phone for 2025.
"As CES 2025 kicks off, showcasing the latest innovations in technology, we're excited about the advancements our industry will bring to people around the world." says Yusuf Mehdi, executive vice president and head of consumer marketing at Microsoft.
“And we believe that one of the most important pieces of technology that people will be looking to upgrade in 2025 is not their fridge, TV or mobile phone. It will be their Windows 10 PC to move on to Windows 11.”
Mehdi believes that "Windows 11 is available at a time when the world needs it most" and that "the frontline of AI innovation will take place in Windows."
2025 should be a big year for Windows AI features in particular after the Recall delay which was not released in 2024.
Microsoft isn't at CES this week in the traditional sense of having a booth at the show or even announcing new products, but its influence will be felt with the myriad of laptops announced this week by other companies, Among the more unusual announcements is Copilot AI coming to LG and Samsung TVs.
With Windows 11 adoption still lagging behind Windows 10, it's no surprise to see Microsoft dedicating the entire year to making sure everyone upgrades to Windows 11 or buys a new PC.
It will be interesting to see how many will choose to pay $30 for an extra year of updates instead of upgrading to Windows 11.
