Microsoft is going to create a new bigger one Data Center, in Iowa, United States, which is expected to cost about 1,1 billion dollars.
The new Data Center will be erected on an area of 623 acres in the West Des Moines area, just a few kilometers from an existing plant. The initial installation at West Des Moines was launched in 2008 and its expansion last year cost 677,6 million dollars. The new project is going to be one of the largest since it is planned to occupy a total area of 111.483,648 square meters.
As it became known, the Iowa Economic Development Authority approved the program and provided Microsoft with a tax deduction of 20,3 million dollars. This discount will be available until 2021. It is worth mentioning that the annual revenue of the municipal authority of the region, from taxes paid by Microsoft, will amount to 8 million dollars. At the same time, as announced with the completion of the project, 84 will have created new jobs.
Creating the new one Data Center was formerly known as Project Alluvion and was an investment proposal that was considered by the Iowa Economic Development Authority
The announcement of the project also solved the "mystery" of the company behind Project Alluvion, which is being added to a series of investments in Data Centers in the particular state. Overall, the investments in Iowa amount to 2 billion dollars. In particular, West Des Moines, in addition to Microsoft, maintains Data Center and Facebook.
