We have reported its official release Google Chrome 100 a few days ago. The new version brought a new logo and several bug fixes.
So it's time for Microsoft to release the Edge with the same version number, but without an updated logo.
Microsoft Edge 100 has come with some improvements to the way you manage PDFs. The new version also fixed some security vulnerabilities in the memory.
Microsoft lists five notable ones characteristics στις σημειώσεις έκδοσης. Το πρώτο, φυσικά, είναι ότι το πρόγραμμα tours now uses a three-digit version number in the User-Agent. The company notes that this may cause some websites to crash. So added a new option to the internal edge://flags that freezes the major version number at 99 instead of 100.
Second, it mentions opening some URLs for services of Microsoft 365, such as SharePoint and OneDrive, which will instantly launch applications in organizations using Microsoft 365 Application Protocol Activations on trusted Microsoft cloud storage services. IT administrators will now be able to use policies to control this behavior.
Another improvement that version 100 brings is the preservation of memory integrity by protecting indirect calls to it. This is a hardware-enforced stack protection patch available from Windows 8 onwards.
The Edge 100 also brings security updates for nine CVEs you can see here.
Finally, there are two updates related to the way the browser handles PDF files, as discussed above. Edge 100 has a lightweight PDF reader for preview of the files. Works with PDF attachments in Outlook Desktop and local PDF files in File Explorer. You can also use a policy to enable digital signature validation on PDF files without using third-party applications.
There are also many policy updates. Anyone interested can find details about them at release notes.
Microsoft Edge should automatically update to version 100.0.1185.29. If it doesn't, you can manually enable the update by doing click in the menu with the three dots in the upper right corner. Then Help > About Microsoft Edge.
