Microsoft Edge (Chromium) has surpassed Firefox

It was rather a matter of time since Windows users is over a billion. The new Edge has overtaken Mozilla Firefox to become the second most popular browser in the world.

The data given to us by analytics company NetMarketShare reveal that the whole thing happened in March, after release of the new Chromium-based Microsoft Edge that allowed the company to be in second place just behind Google Chrome.

Microsoft Edge

So now Microsoft Edge is the second most popular Browser in the world with a market share of 7.59%, while Firefox is now third with 7.19%.

Of course the still leads the race with a market share of 68,50%.

Some people expect to see Microsoft Edge at the top, but this is unlikely to happen soon, especially when one notices the difference.
However, such a thing might happen in the long run since Edge is the new default of . Windows 10 currently has a market share of up to 60%.

At the same time, Microsoft Edge is released for older versions of Windows as well as for macOS devices. According to the company, we will see a version for Linux, but no one knows when it will be released.

All indications are that Microsoft Edge is now an alternative to Google Chrome and is available on more than one platform.

Let me mention that the fact that Firefox is left behind shows that the majority is not interested in the privacy and privacy it offers. The fact is really sad.
