It probably was theme time, since Windows users is over a billion. The new Microsoft Edge surpassed Mozilla Firefox and became the second most popular browser in the world.
The data given to us by the analytics company NetMarketShare reveal that the whole thing happened in March, after release of the new Chromium-based Microsoft Edge that allowed the company to be in second place right after the Chrome of Google.
So now Microsoft Edge is the second most popular Browser in the world with a market share of 7.59%, while Firefox is now third with 7.19%.
Of course Google Chrome is still leading the race with a market share of 68,50%.
Some people expect to see Microsoft Edge at the top, but this is unlikely to happen soon, especially when one notices the difference.
However, such a thing might happen in the long run since Edge is the new default Browser of Windows 10. Currently Windows 10 has a market share of up to 60%.
At the same time, Microsoft Edge is released for older versions of Windows as well as for Appliances with macOS. According to the company we will also see a version for Linux, but no one knows when it will be released.
All indications are that Microsoft Edge is now an alternative to Google Chrome and is available on more than one platform.
Let me mention that the fact that Firefox is left behind shows that the majority is not interested in the privacy and privacy it offers. The fact is really sad.
