Microsoft is preparing a new tab management feature that will allow users to assign custom names to program windows browsing Microsoft Edge.
As noted by the Reddit user Leopeva-2, the experimental feature is not hidden behind a flag and should be available on all Edge Canaries Insiders running the latest versions.
It should be mentioned here that Chrome has had the new feature for two months but it is behind a flag.
The ability to rename multiple tabs is a good addition for people who usually have multiple tabs open in Microsoft Edge. It will make it easier for them to sort their browser windows based on their content and recognize them faster.
Most importantly, of course, it will help to distinguish between different tabs when switching between them with the Alt-Tab shortcut.
To take advantage of this new feature, right-click on the region of the window title bar and select the option “Name the window” or “Name window” from context menu.
In the dialog, add a unique name, and click "OK" to confirm the changes. You can repeat these steps to rename all browser tabs that you have opened on your computer.
A similar option is already available in Canary versions of Google Chrome. As for those of you who like the idea in the Canary builds, you may have to wait a while before you see it mode on the Stable channel.
