Microsoft continues to strive to improve the end user experience in the new program Edge browser, and apparently one of the company's priorities is to bring the top features of the old Edge app to the new Chromium-based one.
For now the old one version of Microsoft Edge but the new one supported by Chromium is available in Windows 10, but there is no doubt that at some point the old version will be withdrawn.
Microsoft is currently preparing a new all-in-one browser, as it is the default browser in Windows 10, Windows 7,8, 8.1 and macOS. In addition, we expect a preview version for Linux to be released by the end of 2020.
Recently Microsoft added another feature of the old Edge to the Chromium version. We are talking about the file download experience, which now offers new options for opening, saving as, saving or canceling the download.
The feature is currently available in the Dev and Canary versions of the browser, but the users they will have to enable it manually from the settings screen. We don't know when we'll see it in the stable version, but there's a chance that the next release will make the new feature available to everyone.
“We're looking at implementing features from the old Microsoft Edge. One of the items you requested is a feature that asks users if they want to open, save as, save or download or cancel a file download. This week, we're excited to announce that this setting is now available on channela Dev and Canary! We expect all versions with version >= 87.0.629.0 to have this feature”, he says Microsoft.
