Microsoft updated its official documentation confirming that some users may experience problems to installation of the latest updates security for Windows 11 22H2 and 23H2.
According to company, KB5034765 fails to install with the following message:
Something didn't go as planned. No need to worry – undo the changes. Keep your computer open
Other users report a similar message at Windows Update:
This could not be installed informations, but you can try again (0x800f0922)
Except for the not-so-helpful message errorhim and him code of (you can also find him in the program projectionWindows events), the update hangs and stops responding at 96% for some users.
But there is a solution for those affected. Microsoft says that removing the hidden folder C:\$WinREAgent will fix the problem. Delete the folder, restart your system, and try downloading KB5034765 again. Microsoft is working on something to fix the bug in an upcoming update.
Although the error 0x800f0922 does not affect users of Windows 10, recently they too have had quite a few problems related to WinRE. In January 2024, Microsoft issued a notice that expanding the WinRE partition is necessary to install the latest security update. Otherwise, Windows 10 shows you “0x80070643 – ERROR_INSTALL_FAILURE".
Microsoft does not say what causes the 0x800f0922 error in the releases 22:2 pm and 23H2 of Windows 11.
