Microsoft has released a new video that appears to be the first in an upcoming video series titled “Windows 2030 Vision,” where the company outlines its vision for the future of Windows over the next five years.
Curiously, he makes references to some potentially significant changes on the horizon, post-Artificial Intelligence.
In this first episode, David Weston, Microsoft's Corporate Vice President of Operations & Security, begins the video by saying that "the world of using a mouse and keyboard will seem as foreign as MS-DOS to Generation Z."
From the outset, it sounds like it hints at the possibilities of a radical new desktop UX that will be enabled by agentic Artificial Intelligence.
Weston continues:
"I strongly believe that the future version of Windows and other Microsoft operating systems will interact in a multimodal way. The computer will be able to see what we see, hear what we hear, and we will be able to talk to it and ask it to do much more sophisticated things."

Although the press releases will range from very select to rare, I said I'd pass...because sometimes the editors hide.

Windows for workgroups 3.11 and stale bread.
Well, fix the Windows 11 problems first and then we'll see about agentic AI.
