Microsoft announced in January that Windows 10 will be completely free for computers running Windows 7 and 8.1. But the company seems to be looking for new ways to entice new customers.
This time, the company stated in one of the vague announcements released a few weeks ago that the application Office will be completely free for small Appliances. Αυτό θα επιτρέψει σε περισσότερους people to have the benefits of the Office productivity suite, depends on the device they are using.
According to Microsoft All devices with a screen below 10,1 inches are considered part of the "mobile" category. So, devices with a screen up to 10,1 inches will be able to have Office at absolutely no cost, as the company clarified today.
Basically, the company is continuing the freemium approach for small devices, planning to offer more in addition to the free package characteristics with subscription.
"On these devices, the editing and display kernel will be free, but there will also be Premium subscription features," said Kirk Koenigsbauer, corporate vice president of the Office 365 Client Apps and Services team.
So all Windows 10 for phone devices will have Office preinstalled.
A desktop version of Office, called Office 2016, will be released this year, and probably in the second half of 2015, after the release of the Windows 10. Pricing for this application version is unknown.
The reasons why Microsoft is proceeding with the free disposal of its products, apart from searching for new customers, is the retention of old ones. The plethora of office applications on the market made the company's production suite free of charge a necessity.
