Microsoft makes Widgets but keeps the ancient Control Panel

Microsoft announced today that it has removed several widgets from the Microsoft Store. So you will no longer be able to download them, at least temporarily, as the company's intention is to improve the Widgets panel of Windows 11. The company he said on the official Windows health website via the Message Center.

Removed widgets include Calendar and To Do. Additionally, the Photos, Microsoft 365 Feed, and Family widgets have been removed on some computers. The company states:

In our ongoing efforts to improve the widget panel, the Calendar and To Do widgets have been removed from the widget collection in the Microsoft Store for now. Note: In some regions, the Photos, Family, and Microsoft 365 Feed widgets were also removed.

While we work on bringing them back, check out the other Widgets available in the Microsoft Store for alternatives.

For those who don't know, Microsoft announced improved Widgets for Windows 11 24H2 back in August with preview update KB5041865, meaning it's now part of the Stable release for all users.

Of course, the company's bet for the Windows operating system is not its graphics. Right now in the company's closed source code there are pieces from ancient versions of Windows trying to work with the new Windows 11 code that essentially changes the whole system.

For example in Windows 11 there is the Settings app that coexists with the ancient Control Panel. The company's promise to completely remove the Control Panel has been given since 2020, when the mainstream operating system was Windows 10.

Since then the company has changed the version of the Windows, oriented for Windows on the Cloud, added artificial intelligence but there doesn't seem to be a priority to clean up her OS.
