Microsoft has released a new update for Windows 7 that fixes an issue introduced last week by KB4480970 that was released with Patch Tuesday.
The new Windows 7 update KB4487345 is available for download and is said to resolve access in communal areas data network in the Administrators group.
Microsoft states in KB4487345 of Windows 7 Service Pack 1 and Windows Server 2008 R2:
This update fixes a problem in which local users belonging to the "Administrators" group may not be able to remotely access on Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 shares after you install the January 8, 2019 security update.
Please note that this update is not available through Windows Update, but only through Microsoft Product Update. This means that if you are interested you will have to download the file and install it manually. Most likely, the next Patch Tuesday for February will include this fix.
Note that last week, Microsoft also managed to fix a problem that reappeared after the KB4480970 update was installed, leading to the deactivation of the Windows 7 KMS license.
Microsoft said this issue had nothing to do with installing the update in Windows 7 and that it was just a coincidence.
The timing of this issue coincides with the release of the January updates (KB4480960 and KB4480970) that were released on Tuesday, January 8, 2019. The events are not related. The issue has been fixed on Microsoft Activation and Validation servers. If you experience this problem, follow the instructions of article KB4487266.
