Microsoft says Russian, North Korean hackers attack COVID-19 vaccine makers

According to Microsoft, cyber-attacks from North Korea and Russia target companies that are investigating and searching for COVID-19.

Microsoft said in a new blog post that the attacks target seven top pharmaceutical companies and researchers in the US, Canada, France, India and South Korea. The post, signed by Microsoft Vice President Tom Burt, states that the majority of the target companies are manufacturers of COVID-19 vaccines and have reached the research stage at various stages of clinical trials.

Microsoft did not name the companies or provide details about them that may have been stolen or hacked, but said it had alerted agencies and offered assistance where attacks were successful.
