Microsoft had announced a new version of Office, Microsoft Office 2021, and a new long-term service channel, Office LTSC 2021.
The company revealed yesterday that Office LTSC 2021 is now available and that Office 2021 will be available from October 5, 2021, (along with the upcoming Windows 11).
Office LTSC 2021 is designed for Enterprise clients, organizations and business clients. This version of Office will be supported for 5 years by Microsoft, just like the Windows Enterprise LTSC versions. Microsoft had previously supported Windows 10 LTSC for 10 years, but decided to sync support for Office products. Of course the synchronization could have been set at 10 years for both products, but Microsoft chose the 5 year support range, for obvious reasons ($$$$).
Η announcement by Jared Sparato, Corporate Vice President for Microsoft 365, focuses on the upcoming Office LTSC 2021 and reveals a few things.
Sparato says the current version of Office LTSC 2021 will not be the latest release, and that Microsoft will continue its efforts to adopt the Microsoft 365 subscription service in the cloud (for obvious reasons).
The following Office LTSC 2021 products will be offered to customers with volume licensing:
- Office LTSC Professional Plus 2021 (Access, Excel, OneNote, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, Skype for Business, Teams, and Word)
- Office LTSC Standard 2021
- Project Professional 2021
- Project Standard 2021
- Vision LTSC Professional 2021
- Vision LTSC Standard 2021
Office versions will be supported on Microsoft Windows 10 and Windows 11 operating systems. Mac OS users will be able to purchase Office LTSC Standard for Mac 2021. Access and Publisher applications will not be available in the Mac version.
