The Chat GPT has dramatically impacted technology since it was released in late 2022 and began rolling out to more users in early 2023. Microsoft, for example, has integrated OpenAI's ChatGPT into Bing.com, the Windows 11 taskbar, and plans to bring it to Office apps through Microsoft 365 Copilot.
But Microsoft plans to integrate ChatGPT into Windows 10 and 11 through PowerToys, an open source tool code the company's. As you may know, the microsoft power toys, released three years ago, has become a very powerful tool especially after the latest updates they added functions such as Registry Preview (Registry Preview).
PowerToys is an open source project. This means that independent developers can work with Microsoft to add new features to Windows 11 or 10. PowerToys is like a tool drawer for Windows, and now they get a new tool called “ChatGPT”, which as the name suggests, brings AI to your desktop.
The independent developer Simone franco, who previously developed the WSATools APK sideload app for Windows 11, is working with Microsoft to integrate ChatGPT into Windows.
The developer said that the updated PowerToys tool will allow users to access the ChatGPT model through an existing feature called “PowerToys Run”. This feature will allow users to interact with the language model in a variety of ways.
This integration seems to be mainly aimed at asking the AI questions directly from the desktop.
We don't know when this feature will be released, but Microsoft is still working on it with Simone. It may be a few weeks before we see ChatGPT in Windows PowerToys.
