Microsoft removes beta from Edge

In anticipation of the official Edge premiere on January 15, Microsoft began removing the beta, confirming that we are in the final stages of developing the application.

Ο German website WU has revealed that Microsoft has begun removing the beta tag for a number of beta versions, which means that these existing Microsoft Edge installations are no longer part of the beta.

The change is rolling out to users as Microsoft rolls out the new in stable on January 15th and on Windows 10 systems it will be pushed through Windows Update.

The Microsoft Edge will be released on Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Windows 10 and macOS. A Linux version of the browser is also possible, given the Chromium engine, but there is no version for this platform yet.

In Windows 10, the new browser will be set to the default, replacing the existing Edge version. Microsoft has not yet announced when it will completely remove the old Edge, and most likely as this version will still be compatible with the operating system for compatibility reasons.
