Microsoft Research: What is Hyperlapse Technology?

Microsoft is trying to improve some of the existing technologies with new ones if they prove to be better. The so-called program announced last year by Microsoft Research and is designed to remove camera shake when capturing video on a smartphone.microsoft research

Basically, Microsoft Research's Hyperlapse is investigating some sort of advanced optical optimization that will not only apply to Microsoft's Lumia smartphones, but can be applied to any from any brand.

At the moment there are not many smartphones whose cameras use the OIS (optical image stabilization) function, or in Greek image stabilization. This function can provide a smooth video recording experience when the person operating the smartphone is in motion (running or walking).

However, with Hyperlapse, Microsoft Research hopes to be able to reconstruct the camera's motion in "flickering" video, as well as the distance and angle relative to what is happening in each frame.

The originally started as a way to stabilize images taken with GoPro cameras while on the go, but Microsoft has discovered that it can be applied to any smartphone camera
.
The application with this software has just been traced to Windows Phone Store by MicrosoftInsider.es.

If you want to try the beta and you don't know exactly what Microsoft can do states:

"Our method is radically different from previous approaches. We are recreating a complete 3D route model of the camera and the world. This allows the camera to smooth over space-time and create an output video with a constant speed camera, skipping the "slow" parts of the video.

Our method can cover missing areas in the video by stapling pixels from multiple input frames. Thanks to these two innovations, it can handle very difficult videos, such as videos from mountaineering or horseback riding. ”
