Last week, Microsoft acknowledged a Windows 10 bug in which the operating system displayed the message “0x80070643 – ERROR_INSTALL_FAILURE” when trying to install a WinRE update. Microsoft then told affected users that they could solve the problem by simply ignoring it..
Finally the company discovered a solution to the problem.
Microsoft has updated its official documentation with a new message for error 0x80070643. It states that starting April 21, 2025, the error will no longer appear. So those who install the KB5057589 update will not notice the error. Those who have already installed the update will not notice anything.
The message published by Microsoft states :
If you install KB5057589 after 2 PM PT on April 21, 2025, you will not observe the incorrect error message about the installation failure. If you have already installed this update, you will not see this update offered again and can check the status of this update with the Dism /Online /Get-Packages command.

This issue only affected Windows 10 versions 22H2, 21H2, and Windows Server 2022. It was not observed on Windows 11 client or server systems.
