Microsoft has announced that it will partner with a startup from LA growing cannabis to create one software which will help the distribution and general availability of marijuana.
The application will work in the cloud platform of Microsoft Azure and is designed to facilitate sales and commerce in places where the use of marijuana for medical or recreational use has been legalized.
The venture is an important move, although there is still the stigma associated with marijuana business.
Although legal in very few states – and in many others for medical use – marijuana is a stigmatized product and thus large businesses they seem reluctant to invest.
Maybe Microsoft is triggering this move, and so are other big companies to invest in newly established marijuana businesses.
