One of the most controversial features of Windows 10 της Microsoft είναι αυτόματη λειτουργία informationς. Οι χρήστες της Home έκδοσης θα έχουν το Windows Update to work automatically, while the Pro and Enterprise editions will have options to delay the installation of updates or even block them altogether.
Microsoft's main intention with automatic updates is to ensure that Windows 10 systems are protected from attacks that exploit security vulnerabilities.
But a "malicious" security update that will automatically install on Windows 10 can shake the whole system. The computer will not explode after installation, of course, but users may notice that some features are not working properly.
So imagine that users of the new operating system will not be able to block the updates. While it will be possible to remove the updates, it will not be possible to terminate the automatic character of the update process.
So Microsoft just released a tool for Windows Insiders testing Windows 10 that adds said functionality to the new operating system. It remains to be seen if it can be used even after the release of the "final" version.
However, it is very likely that once it runs on Windows 10 Build 10240, it will be released after the official release of the operating system.
How does it work:
Download and run the "Show or hide updates" or "Show or hide updates" from the Microsoft Support Knowledgebase troubleshooting page. You can run it without installation once you download it.
After the first “Next” you have to wait for the tool to scan for all the updates that are present on your computer.
Immediately afterwards, two options will appear on the screen:
Hide Updates (Windows will not install hidden updates)
Show hidden updates (Select the updates that you want to install Windows Update).
To block one or more updates from being installed on your system, select Hide Updates.
Note: Windows only displays updates that are not already installed. This means that you should remove an update by other means to hide it (deny it) with the help of this tool.
The other option, "Show hidden updates" lets you accept the updates you refused in case you change your mind.
The process is not as comfortable as the old process of hiding updates via Windows Update from the dashboard. Imagine that it should be run whenever you want to block or unblock updates, something you could do with the same gadget through the dashboard as it did in the past.
