Microsoft's adoption of Rust continues apace, and a posting on the staff search site of the company is something that proves it. Although the number of employees at Microsoft may be reduced in the coming period – by two percent compared to the previous year – hiring continues at the Windows company.
In this case, the company is preparing a team of Rust developers to convert its platform from C# to Rust.
The ad calls for a Principal Software Architect for Microsoft 365, with responsibilities that will include "leading technical direction, designing and implementing Rust component libraries, SDKs, and re-implementing existing global services based on C# to Rust."
According to the post, this job is part of the Substrate App Platform team, part of the Microsoft 365 Core Platform.
Substrate for Microsoft's cloud services will do a rewrite to Rust according to Microsoft's statement:
"We are forming a new team focused on adopting the Rust programming language as the foundation for modernizing our world-class platform services and beyond."
