The popular torrent site MKVCage, which distributes torrents to other sites, is being prosecuted by producers of the action movie Hellboy.
Almost immediately after the lawsuit was filed, the website went offline and so far, no one knows if it will return. It is also not yet known if the downtime of the website is related to the legal issue mentioned above.
The MKVCage team uploads their movies to various torrent sites and has amassed several friends over the past few years.
The band also has their own site at MKVCage.com, where they share their latest releases. However. in recent days, the website does not respond.
The suspension began after the producers of the movie "Hellboy" were sued in a federal court in Hawaii. According to the complaint, the site is managed by a person named Muhammad Faizan. Faizan is accused of promoting and distributing pirated copies of Hellboy.
The complaint states:
Defendant Faizan operates an interactive website mkvcage.com and mkvcage.fun, which include a library of torrent files for copyrighted movies. Torrent files can be used by a BitTorrent client application to download and play movies for free and without permission.
The creators add that the accused creates torrent files files that are available through the website. One of them is "Hellboy.2019.720p.HC.HDRip.x264-MkvCage.Com.mkv". The site name is often included in the title to advertise the site.
"The accused Faizan sometimes includes words like 'MkvCage.com' in the titles of the torrent files he creates to enhance his reputation and certify the quality of torrents by attracting users to the MKVCAGE interactive website," the complaint states.
The producers found the name of the accused from domain sale site Namecheap. The same person is also listed as the owner of the domains mkvcage.com, Μkvcage.ws, Μkvcage.cc and Μkvcage.me. The alleged owner used PayPal to pay for at least one of them.
