The release of two ultra-thin TV panels, one of which is so flexible that it can be wrapped in a three-centimeter roll, announced the LG.
The company says it is confident it will be able to produce a 60-inch rollable Ultra HD TV by 2017. The new flexible panel has analysis 1.200 x 810, which remains unchanged even after wrapping. According to LG, this impressive flexibility was achieved thanks to the use of a special material ("high molecular substance-based polyimide film") instead of plastic on the back.
The second screen is transparent and is considered to surpass older ones models, with the company claiming a significant reduction in blurry images and a 30% increase in transmittance.
As mentioned in a BBC article, the company claims that its new displays prove that it's on its way to much larger, Ultra HD-capable flexible displays in the near future.
