e-Strap the strap that turns the dumb watches into smart

Montblanc e-Strap: 2015 will be the year of the SmartWatch, as traditional watchmakers try to face the new competition.

Montblanc for example found a new way of "dumb" watches to SmartWatch, according to aBlogtoWatch: an e-leash (e-Strap) that converts a non-smart clock into one that can receive alerts and messages. The e-Strap vibrates whenever a notification comes in.Montblanc e-strap

The strap is made of leather, but has a screen that sits under your wrist, and connects to your smartphone via 4.0 (aka Bluetooth Smart). So it can pull notifications directly on the OLED touchscreen, with a resolution of 128×36 pixels.

The e-Strap also works in the gym, allowing users to monitor their steps, calories and sync their data into a smartphone app.

Experts in the luxury watch industry believe that many consumers don't really want one SmartWatch, but instead, prefer an opt-in smart component, such as the e-Strap.Montblanc.

The e-strap costs 300 dollars. Let's mention here that many of the Montblanc watches cost around 3.000 dollars.
