Mozilla, the maker of the browser application Firefox, has developed a feature called Total Cookie Protection as part of enhanced "Strict Mode" monitoring that promises to stop monitoring between sites.
"Total Cookie Protection restricts cookies to the site where they were created, which prevents tracking companies from using the same cookies to track your site-to-site browsing, ”says Mozilla.
The feature is available as part of a Firefox feature called Enhanced Tracking protection.
Mozilla claims that most browsers allow cookies to be shared between websites, allowing advertisers to "tag" a browser and track the user as they browse websites.
"This type of cookie-based tracking has long been the most common method of gathering information for users. It is a key element of bulk marketing that allows advertising companies to create a detailed personal profile of you. he says Mozilla.
Apple introduced Intelligent Tracking Prevention (ITP) last year in Safari through the WebKit project, to block by default all cookies third parties in Safari.
Mozilla launched its own online advertising practice in 2019. Of course you know that privacy is one of the main pillars that uses Mozilla to differentiate itself from a web increasingly dominated by the Chromium project, which today even Microsoft uses in Edge browser.
Mozilla states that Total Cookie Protection provides a separate "cookie jar" for each website a user visits.
“Every time a website or someone content third-party embedded on a website, deposits a cookie on your browser, this cookie is limited to the cookie jar assigned to that website, so it cannot be shared with any other website,” Mozilla says.
