Mozilla seems to be waiving the smartphones after announcing today that it will stop developing and selling Firefox OS for smartphones.
The announcement was made today at the Mozilla event "Mozlando” in Orlando. After that Mozilla released a full statement from Ari Jaaksi, SVP of Mozilla Connected Devices.
“Firefox OS demonstrated the flexibility of the Web, from Low-end smartphones to HD TVs. However, we are unable to provide the user with the best possible experience and thus we will stop providing Firefox OS for smartphones through port channels.
We will soon share more information about our project and new experiments for all connected Appliances. "
The Firefox OS was first revealed in 2013, targeting the developing world and low-cost mobile phones.
