Mozilla begins collaboration with Foxconn

Firefox OSΗ Mozilla has started a partnership with the Taiwanese company Hon Hai Precision Industry - also known as Foxconn, yes you read that right - for building a new device to run Firefox OS.

Mozilla confirmed the new partnership in Reuters and although the company does not mention anything specific about the exact nature of the device, believed to be a tablet. Mozilla is expected to present its plans at Focus Taiwan on June 3.

Mozilla has already signed partnerships with Alcatel (TCL), Huawei, ZTE and LG to build smartphones with Firefox OS and this is the first move for tablets.

Foxconn, most of which comes from Apple, reportedly wants to diversify its customer base. She is already building Android devices and today we see her "experimenting" in the field of Firefox OS.

Firefox OS is an operating system that claims (currently) the fourth or fifth place in the world of smartphones. New platforms - such as Ubuntu Touch and Tizen - are aimed primarily at emerging markets and, for the first time, smartphone buyers. Mashable.
