MX Linux: first in Distrowatch visits. Because I'm very busy with Linux, I often visit the Distrowatch page. The page is an online directory of Linux distributions. So you can look for the distribution that interests you and find out if it meets your needs. The website is updated daily with new versions of distributions and open source applications.
Hit Ranking now used by Distrowatch is a method of assessing the interest in the distributions hosted on the website. In essence, the service counts the clicks received by each distribution, highlighting those that interest most users.
This feature of the page, has occasionally made the apple dispute between large distributors claiming the first places as it is just a clicks counter of the page of each distribution. The page displays data per year, month, 30 days, week, etc.
While there are many who consider DistroWatch as a non-objective source for the popularity of Linux projects, one that can not be denied is the age and completeness of the site. The page has been addressed to Linux friends for years, has almost every release that has been released and adds to any new distribution that is being distributed by developers.
This means that the majority of clicks come from Linux geeks, so the ranks are probably not so unrepresentative.
So I'm not referring to Hit Ranking as a reliable method of evaluating each distribution, but more as a "counter" of traffic to a page that only deals with Linux.
If you are trying to find other ranking results, a good source is Alexa.
But let's see what happened to Distrowatch last space. For a very long time (since 2011) the Mint distribution held the number one spot in the DW Hit Ranking. But for some time now Manjaro, an Arch Linux fork, has been ranked in the Mint distribution. So since yesterday for the first time the MX Linux distribution managed to pass Manjaro:

Let's mention that 14 of the 20 distributions are LTS (provide long-term support), και 1 από αυτές τις 14 διαθέτει (και) Rolling Release, ie rolling version. Of course we are talking about openSUSE Tumbleweed.

But let's talk about MX Linux.
At iGuRu.gr we love and highly recommend the MX Linux operating system. It is a Linux distribution based on the Debian stable, and we recommend it to anyone, experienced or beginner.
The distribution came from a collaboration between antiX and MEPIS Linux communities that has ceased to grow.
It uses Xfce as the default desktop, and is an operating system that combines an elegant and efficient desktop with simple settings, high stability, consistent performance and minimal footprint. In short, it is a fairly light distribution that does not sacrifice quality.
At first glance, you will not see too many changes that make the distribution different from the others. But there are… they are subtle but essential. MX Tools for example πουν They convert a Linux system to the standards that Windows friends have.
This of course has not gone unnoticed by Linux friends, as we see in the Distrowatch ranking the distribution has now reached the first place, surpassing Manjaro, which has long been at the top.
But let's look at the rank that Alexa gives. This rank now concerns the global ranking of the website of each project, and is a method used as a metric traffic system. So we can talk about metrics that show the popularity of a website in relation to the rest globally, and no longer among geeks.
So in the pictures below you can see the Alexa rating in the distributions that are first in the Distrowatch ranking: MX, Manjato and Mint.
The ranking is very different, with Mint clearly ahead of the MX and Manjaro distributions. On the other hand, we notice a decrease in the traffic of the Mint page (pay attention to the graphic).
After all of the above, it's probably safe to say that Mint still holds the top spot globally, and that the MX Linux and Manjaro operating systems seem to be more popular with geeks, as they hold the top spot in the Distrowatch standings. .
