Mythos Preview by Anthropic (everything else after)

Before the Mythos preview was released this week, government officials spoke with Anthropic.

US Vice President JD Vance and US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent discussed the security of artificial intelligence with the heads of leading major technology companies. A similar call is said to have taken place last week, about a week before Anthropic's new Mythos Preview AI model was released and made available to select companies.

Mythos is said to be able to identify security vulnerabilities in any major software and develop appropriate attacks.

In accordance with American news channel CNBC, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, xAI head Elon Musk, Google head Sundar Pichai, OpenAI head Sam Altman, Microsoft head Satya Nadella, CrowdStrike head George Kurtz, and Palo Alto Networks head Nikesh Arora participated in the call.

CNBC cited two sources who requested anonymity due to the confidential nature of the matter. An Anthropic spokesperson declined to comment on the matter, but confirmed that a meeting with top government officials took place last Friday.

Before any external release, Anthropic briefed senior U.S. government officials on the full capabilities of Mythos Preview, including both its offensive and defensive cyber capabilities. “Keeping the government informed early — about what the model can do, where the risks lie, and how we’re managing them — has been a priority from the beginning,” the agency spokesperson said.

According to the two anonymous sources, the participants in the call discussed the security situation with LLMs and their safe use, as well as what would happen if the models were evolved by attackers.

Anthropic, according to her statements, has made its new AI available to a select number of companies. These reportedly include Amazon Web Services (AWS), Apple, Broadcom, Cisco, CrowdStrike, Google, JPMorganChase, Linux Foundation, Microsoft, NVIDIA, and Palo Alto Networks, among others. 40 other organizations responsible for software for critical infrastructure are also participating.

On the same day, Bessent and US Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell called an emergency meeting with the heads of major US banks to warn them about the dangers of Anthropic's new artificial intelligence model.

They called on financial institutions to take artificial intelligence seriously. According to Bloomberg, banks such as Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, Bank of America and Morgan Stanley are among the companies that have access to Mythos.
